In the past the strength of the new lens placed within the eye could be customized to achieve glasses free distance or near vision but not both. Patients usually required either distance or near glasses. New multifocal and accommodative intraocular lenses (ReStor, Toric IOL and Crystalens) are now available that permit clear vision for both distance and near. During your cataract surgery consultation, Dr. Weingarten will review your needs and expectations and discuss which option would be best for you. Toric IOL’s that correct astigmatism are also available.

Dr. Weingarten performed LASIK for one eye. Although I went into it pretty nervous, the procedure itself was pretty straightforward and painless. My recovery was very quick.
