Cataract Surgery in High Myopes

A recent retrospective study by Dr. Neuhann and colleagues (Ocular Surgery News 2/10/11) showed that the risk for retinal detachment in high myopes following cataract surgery is identical to the risk for spontaneous retinal detachment in high myopes. This is reassuring for these patients who are considering cataract surgery so that they will not be so afraid of having the surgery. Dr Weingarten is a skilled, board certified ophthalmic surgeon who specializes in small incision cataract surgery. If you live in the Metro Detroit area (Rochester, Troy, Bloomfield Hills, Shelby) his office is conveniently located near you. If you are considering cataract surgery you can call his office at 248-650-2255 to set up a cataract evaluation to discuss this with him.
